Meet Richard Henry Cronan
Counselor, Med, Mdiv, LMHC
Clinical Consultant
I take a psychodynamic approach in conversation with the individual(s) about what
struggles and conflicts are present in their life. The goal of therapy is to identify the patterns
of thinking and feeling, (positive and negative) that a person is using to manage the
relationships in their life and to discover ways of adjusting those patterns to create a more
positive experience of oneself and others. Therapist and client work together to understand
and modify habits of thinking, feeling and behaving that create a stronger sense of self and
happiness.
Consulting with other clinicians is a collaborative dialogue with the goal being an emerging
understanding and clarity about the dynamics in the therapy room and how those dynamics
are influencing the clinical work. Self-awareness and self-observation is a continuous
development that provides professional and personal benefits.
Observing our unique ways of relating to ourselves and others is the beginning of self-
awareness. The learned patterns and memories that echo from our past are both helpful
and harmful in our present life. Therapy helps us modify and improve relationships with the
people in our life.
I offer long term open ended therapy to those who are motivated to learn more about
themselves. I am in a psychoanalytic training program and will be offering control case
psychoanalysis to those interested.

Contacting Me:
I am often not immediately available by telephone. When I am unavailable, you
may leave a message on my confidential telephone voice mail. I will make every effort to return
your call on the same day you make it, with the exception of weekends and holidays. In case of an
emergency, go to or call the nearest emergency room (911) and ask to speak to a member of the
psychiatric emergency team. My services are limited to outpatient treatment and I do not carry an
emergency beeper. As such, I cannot provide emergency service.
